Canadian Gets Big Promotion at Cisco

Mark Evans

Amid Cisco Systems' move to create three new geographic "theatres" - Emerging markets, European markets and Canada & the U.S. - Canadian Robert Lloyd received a big promotion when he was tapped to run Canada & the U.S. Lloyd used to be Cisco's Canadian boss, before heading up the company's Europe, Middle East and Africa division. I don't know too much about the pecking order within Cisco in terms of CEO John Chambers' eventual replacement but you'd hazard to guess that one would be in the running if you were picked to lead Cisco's biggest geographical business. And as much I have made a big, patriotic deal about the many Americans within Nortel's senior ranks, Cisco has a healthy contingent of Canadians within its management team, including chief marketing officer James Richardson.
